After so many visits to St Kitts, we did something different. We took a shore excursion on the St Kitts Scenic Railway. A 18-mile long train ride along the coastline of the island. They served complimentary drinks, soda, and water. It was a hot day, so we stayed down below with A/C, but many people sat up top in the open air. An enjoyable, unique experience.
I enjoyed the bus and train tours. Beautiful scenery. Staff were wonderful and enjoyed our tour guide Kirk’s history about the island. My only critique would be the random trash littering the river beds, roadways, and fields.
Superb staff serving great cocktails as the train trundles through the countryside with great sea views and history The train was originally designed to haul the sugar cane from the plantations to the refinery. Upstairs is open sided and offers a great cooling breeze with downstairs being enclosed and air conditioned! We actually met the owner Steve who told us all about how this lovely attraction came to be with its sister scenic railway located in the Yukon in Alaska! It might look expensive first off but is incredible value for money with cocktails included!
I very much enjoyed my ride on this narrow gauge train. The service was great with drinks provided as you rode (at least on the option that I was on). The narrator was truly outstanding and I came away with a great overview of Saint Kitts. I definitely enjoyed riding upstairs in the open air. The journey is long and the train very much sways and makes noise..but that is half the fun. Overall, I had a grand time and learned a lot.
