I had planned to do this hike with my husband and he ended up not feeling well so I went alone. Thank goodness I read the reviews and trusted the travelers and still i was not completely mentally prepared for how difficult this was. This hike is NOT FOR THE WEAK. It is VERY difficult. The terrain is a mix between boulders, branches, roots, and mud. It requires a TON of climbing (2.5 hours at least) to get to the "peak" and when you get there its more about the accomplishment than anything. It takes at least the same amount of time to get back down to the bottom again. You will need good sturdy shoes (I wore my walking shoes), tech type pants, and a very small backpack with water and an energy bar or something. Be prepared for everything to be covered in mud. I realize why there are not more pictures in the reviews. The terrain is such that stopping and getting out a phone is nearly impossible. Would I recommend this hike? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Not a chance. The guides were so encouraging and nice!

Amazing but very difficult hike. Really happy we did it to the end. Be prepared, it’s not the easy hike you are used to do. It will make you sweat a bucket of water.
This hike is a must do if you are physically in shape. I have done many hikes including Alaska but this one is strenuous. Your breathing will be tested, Heart rate, will power, your legs will be sore and you will be exhausted at the end but it will be worth it! It’s a very difficult hike you get on all fours you are climbing up rocks and it is not for the weak. Proceed with caution. My friend and I went back and forth based on reviews. We were in port on a cruise so our time was limited. If you do this make sure you have ample time. We completed in 3:30Hrs because we stopped to do a few things because our car was late and we knew that on our way back. Many vines and roots so beware, protect your ankles. We were able to do it in sneakers although we packed hiking boots. JEY was amazing and calm and we felt at ease.
A brutal hike (especially since i did it in slides) but the view is worth it! Jay was a wonderful guide, and was very patient.
Jay safely took us to the top of Mount Liamuiga. It was a very challenging hike but worth the effort. Our family loved it and Jay made the experience so much fun. Danny and Jay have great knowledge of the island and its history. Highly recommend Jay and Danny for this hike.
